GOOD TO KNOW

About Phuket

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, approximately the size of Singapore. Phuket nestles in Andaman Sea waters on Thailand’s Indian Ocean coastline, located 867 kilometers south of Bangkok. Spectacular scenery, stunning tropical sunsets and warm blue sea awaits you at Asia’s most popular beach destination.

Phuket is blessed with magnificent coves and bays, powdery, palm-fringed white beaches, smaller surrounding islands, hospitable people and seafood, delightful turn-of-the-century Sino-Portuguese architecture; numerous sporting and leisure opportunities; a lush tropical landscape – all of which combine to create a delightful ambience for truly memorable holidays. The most famous beaches are Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala and Nai Harn Beach. Phuket and its islands are ideal for sailing, diving & snorkeling, golfing and all kinds of sports and entertainment you can wish for. From Kata-Beach one can reach several off-shore Islands, either with Longtail- or speed boats and enjoy snorkeling, fishing or diving activities. Sit by the sea wall and admire the view around the beach – one of the first tourist attractions on Phuket. You can also take a trip with a submarine to discover the colorful marine lives under the sea.
Mountain Seaview Phuket is associated with one of Kata Beachs’ most famous Dive Shop – Dive time Phuket. Kata Beach 1.5km (1 mile) strip of golden sand is one of the most popular beaches in Phuket due to the combination of it’s beauty, facilities and activities. Hundreds of people come each day to soak up the sun and take advantage of all on offer. Often busy but never crowded this beach is perfect in many ways. During the north-east monsoon season (November to April)  the warm  sea is as flat as a pancake, crystal clear and turquoise  in colour. The south-west monsoon season (May to October) can make  for slightly rougher swimming conditions, but it’s this time of year that the surfers flock to enjoy the smallish waves. Rarely do the  red flags come out, the days they do you probably wouldn’t want to  go the beach anyway. Late in the year as the  waters turn calm, Kata bay becomes populated with 100+ beautiful yachts which arrive from all over the  region, some even circumnavigating, to compete in December’s  King’s Cup, Asia’s premier sailing event.
